GIRLPOWER : Preview & Rumors SS18 WomanCollection
At Milano Fashion Week, Alberto Guardiani will be unveiling the Spring-Summer 2018 Collection, GIRL POWER, to the press and sector operators.
Girl Power is the theme of the new collection with a late nineties mood, a time where music and culture were swept away by a wave of Neo-feminism with an exquisitely Pop flavour. And, because the Guardiani woman has a laid-back yet whimsical attitude, it was only natural to present the different facets of the female spirit through ten works of art by the artist LaJaxx. What will be on show is an ode to a woman who is proud of her body and consciously expresses herself with ultra-feminine shapes and colours; an ‘empowered’ woman who loves to be bold with lightness and femininity.
A journey into modern feminism, inspired by the shapes and colours of the fashions from the end of the millennium, reinterpreted in a contemporary key. An era steeped in Pop culture and glossy looks, where club culture moved from underground venues to become part of the modern-day costume, presented on the pages of The Face and i-D.
A collection designed for an independent woman, who celebrates her individuality in a confident and courageous manner, just like the 1990s muses who inspired the designs: Rose McGowan, Alicia Silverstone and a young Natalie Portman with her bob-cut in “Leon”.
The mood of the end of the last century is brought to life through the iconic materials and colours of the era: sequins, glittery textures, ruched suede and leather, with an ultra “GIRL POWER” flavour; patent leathers with disco ball textures, pearly suedes, contrasting nylon, leather and mesh inserts, perfect for a sporty “Disco 2000” look.
Tone-on-tone and shiny-opaque lilac and orange hues are the key protagonists. Then there’s the ultra-graphic colour combinations in pastel tones, like rose pink, sky blue and yellow, alternated by more intense colour block effects.
The Alberto Guardiani Spring Summer 2018 collection proposes maxi-heels in bright hues; light, ultra-colourful sneakers; moccasins and sabots with rubber soles and pastel-tone leathers, all made unique by the interesting play of colours.
The trend this season sees increasingly lighter sneakers transform into sandals, like the GINGER design, the Guardiani signature sneaker with it’s high, streamlined platform soles, which are made more functional than ever before by the new strap version.
There’s a desire for light-heartedness, freedom, femininity and romantic or pulp shades, as can be seen in the AIRY model, a light and highly elegant, running shoe-style sneaker in white, lilac and orange, finished with mesh and iridescent patent accents, for an opaque-glossy, tone-on-tone effect. Meanwhile, ONESOUL, another running shoe made completely from nylon, is the new Guardiani unisex shoe, which made its debut in FW2017. In the SS18 collection, Onesoul showcases a graphic combination of soft pastel and bold colour hues, especially the version with a lemon-yellow nylon upper and rubberised fabric toe, offset by an aubergine-purple, rubber 'spoiler on the heel and signature brace detailing on the strap.
For SS18, the women’s collection steals its inspiration from the men’s moccasins, in soft leather or suede with a rubber sole, all in a delicate blend of unusual colours and contrasting, chromatic accents. An example of this is SWEET LOVE, a slip-on with a contrasting welt and upper with a brace logo that matches the sole. For a more party mood there’s the ADELINE slippers with a suede upper covered in black, purple or silver sequins, accented with a colourful fabric insert for a strong visual impact.
And for the real “nineties princess”, Guardiani proposes ultra-light, maxi, rubber heels, like the ones in the HOLLY cage sandal, available in dreamy shades of lilac, pearl-grey and silver or as soft suede sabots with a purple and acid green band on the upper and a dazzling heel studded with sequins.
Smart, courageous and feminine, always on-the-go and out-and-about, energetic and romantic, this is the woman that has inspired the up-coming SS18 collection.
