What are the style requirements of the contemporary man? Alberto Guardiani has responded to this question with a versatile and multi-functional collection for Autumn/Winter 2017.

It’s a footwear wardrobe with a great personality, inspired by a very specific observation: the modern-day gentleman’s increasingly urgent need for a versatile range of accessories, which not only have an original design and unquestionable quality, but are also easy to interpret in an everyday key. The approach is spontaneous and relaxed: but this casual attitude is always balanced by the exemplary skill and know-how of the fashion house.  The result is a versatile and practical range of footwear that can be worn 24/7 and dressed up or down. All with a perfect balance of surprising fashion details and a rich heritage of formal references.

All this can clearly be seen in the careful selection of the materials: refined and classic leathers which have been given a unique and contemporary edge by the sophisticated treatments and finishes.
Calf leather is worked using the brush-off technique to reveal a subtle decorative motif or washed to give it that pleasurably worn-in look, then there’s the laminated and brushed designs, in a constant study of innovative effects and cutting-edge workmanship.
An alternative twist has been given by the textured leathers: from classic Saffiano calf and etched python-look detailing, right the way through to fish scale-effect flock texture and brush-off linen printed leather, the effects of the materials are the key focus of the new collection. And there’s also plenty of ‘surprises’ too, like bold, marble-effect patent leather, whimsical printed suede – like the tartan proposals – or fabrics like melange wool. All options that add an unexpected edge and bring a new range of decorative combinations to the already rich and varied portfolio of materials.  The colour palette also moves along the same lines, hovering between tradition and innovation. Über-classic hues like black, natural leather and brown are alternated with more unusual shades like blue, plum and dark green.  Whatever the case, the tones are never flat, but variegated colour nuances that are enhanced by a skilful fusion of craftsmanship and materials. Naturally, this trend towards versatility is also reflected in the footwear designs, starting with One, the new iconic design of the season. A perfect union of active and formal spirit, with a sartorial construction and casual look, One is not a performance shoe, it’s a design sneaker. Conceived as a formal evolution of the sports shoe, it combines the typical running shoe sole with an essential upper made of sophisticated materials, which look although they have been borrowed from the world of men’s tailoring. Curated down to the finest detail –  from the technical, 3-part sole to the stitch work on the rubber-coated, calf toecap – the sole features an embossed motif with the brand’s logo; an element that is also re-proposed in metal on the elasticated strap on the upper, which also transforms the shoe into a practical slip-on. Another perfect example of the transverse attitude of the Autumn/Winter 2017 collection is Heritage, which is a sporty evolution of the classic lace-up. Inspired by a design from the Alberto Guardiani archives, this super-functional, light-weight Derby comes with an ultra-light sole and a leather midsole. With its square-shaped silhouette and meticulous detailing – like the garnet red spoiler – it has been created according to the highest standards of artisanal workmanship, as can be seen in the hand-stitched accents on the toe. A shoe that is an ambassador of transversal style and the epitome of contemporaneity.

Meanwhile, the fusion between outdoor and formal makes a comeback in Forrest. With its distinctive serrated sole and uppers inspired by the Oxford or the Beatles-style ankle boot, the design has been embellished with British, punch hole detailing, borrowed from formal footwear. Kipling, designed along the same lines, recalls the traditional mountain boot, with its rounded lines and heavy structure. However, in this case, the important sole (constructed in 3 layers, with a shark-tooth tread, rubber insert and leather welt) has been combined with an upper made of luxurious materials or interpreted in a more fashionable key, like the suede and plaid printed version.

Another novelty this season is Benson, which perfectly represents the spirit of “Unconventional Formal”. It’s a shoe with clean, essential lines, that effortlessly combines a leather sole with a rubber grip. What makes it unforgettable are the contemporary details, like the diagonal, elastic stripes and unusual materials, like marble-effect patent leather.

Another formal, yet decisively fashionable design is Tom John, with sombre, chiselled lines and a super-light, flexible rubber sole.Available in both the slip-on and Oxford version, in a variety of precious materials, it has been made even more refined by the accurate workmanship, such as the brushed laminate accents which reveal a variegated array of colour hues. The same goes for Phillo, also available in the Oxford or slip-on version, which has been designed with a decisively sporty twist. Made using contrasting materials, this new, ultra-light sneaker with a box sole comes in a combination of soft suede and tartan print or soft calf and laminated leather.  An essential shoe that can be adapted to suit a wide variety of looks. Finally, the footwear brand’s two flagship models, Clatyon and Sharkboot also get an upgrade. In fact, the soles of both designs – which have been extremely popular for the last few seasons – have been embellished with a laminated leather insert and a metallic chain element. An innovative touch for these two styles with a masculine spirit, also proving that some of the best things often come from the most unlikely of unions.

The new campaign aims to catch both the freedom and “Joie de Vivre”, to represent the unclenched lifestyle of Alberto Guardiani’s Spring Summer 2017 collection.

The “Candid Shot” storytelling continues this season with the pictures of Byron Mollinedo. Set onto a sunny beach full of metropolitan surfers, the campaign portrays a group of friends arriving at dawn from the city, to enjoy a day full of surf, sun and carefreeness.

 

The pursuit of the perfect wave, typical of the Surf field, together with the relaxed attitude that comes along looking for it, becomes a metaphore of the pursuit of the perfect style, made of bold shoes to wear 24/7 with the perfect balance between confidence and lightness.

The so called “A Walk in Wonderland” presentation is a trip in an irreverent and enchanted world, made of green lawns, swings and delicate white cloths illuminated by lights. A romantic and carefree place, which seems suspended in a cloud, where young and classy wizards invite the guests to admire all the Guardiani’s Spring Summer 2017 “magical” creations. The Spring Summer Woman's Collection 2017 is a surprising and unexpected journey exploring unique color combinations and eccentric mixes of materials, to reflect the many facets of a unique character: the contemporary Woman. Feminine but ironic, practical yet naïve, Alberto Guardiani’s muse is not afraid to dare. Unusual stylistic choices add a hint of audacity to classic shoe designs to invent ultra-contemporary accessories conceived with the precise goal of being worn and not simply admired. True to the tradition of the house, the masculine inspiration and functional vocation remain the two pillars of the collection. This Spring Summer, however, Alberto Guardiani adds a desire for lightness, especially in the sandals that become practical as a sneaker, meanwhile the sneakers get dressy as a sandal.

The famous Ginger, with its high and ultra light sole identified by a contrasting micro-wedge, becomes sandal and dyes itself in pastel shades, in nude calfskin with optical printed band, or it becomes a precious accessory, in polished calfskin leather, covered with floral and Swarowsky studs.

Wendy is renewed as well, this season makes its debut the “espadrilles” version, which can be worn as a lace-up or like a sandal, thanks to the two laces of different length.

A new entry of the season is Holly, a peep toe sandal with a gritty look and strong retro appeal, which can be worn as a sneaker, because of its oversized rubber heel.

Holly is available in black and white, with nude suede details. A mix of materials and colors which can satisfy even the most demanding contemporary pin-up.

The most boyish designs get completely renewed. Roundy and New England with the uppers designed as a cage, while High England becomes a slip on.

A similar metamorphosis concerns the iconic Shark boot, featuring the recognizable shark tooth sole. For Spring Summer 2017 this footwear of great personality discovers its more feminine side in the form of a gorgeous sabot.

If the tops get lighter, the bottoms enrich themselves, by woven inserts made of rope and silver leather and golden chains. The new Spring Summer sneaker, Tracy, is, namely, identifiable by a box bottom with treaded sole, decorated with a chain insert and coming in a delicate palette of pastel tones. Footwear that is made ultra-feminine and sophisticated by the rubber ferrules with scalloped finish, the laminated side inserts, for a bright touch, and the pretty satin laces (which are removable). Tracy’s street soul is revealed when laces are removed, for those who wish to wear it casually like a slip on.

Advertising Campaign Fall-Winter 2016-17

Alberto Guardiani’s Fall Winter advertising campaign is out now. The photographer Byron Mollinedo continued the so called “Candid Shot” storytelling, begun for the Spring Summer 2016 campaign.

This time the “Candid Shots” portray a group of friends hanging out and partying during a common Saturday night. Suddenly they find themselves before an Fun Fair, a place of ageless joy, where the present meets and clashes with the past. Here they’ll keep on partying until dawn.

Fall Winter’s collection is inspired by two strong aims: portraying the vintage glamour of the ‘70s combined with ‘80s boldness, but still remaining contemporary in terms of functionality and exper-imentation.

 

Bright and sparkly surfaces, blend with the thousands dazzling lights of the carousels, creating a visible match of suggestions, where the shoes themselves seem to become the essential part of an endless game.

Back in her childhood, Serena Guardiani, daughter of Italian shoemaker Alberto Guardiani, has decided to follow her fathers steps. A position of a designer of womens collections at Alberto Guardiani is a brand new stage in her career.

HOW DID YOUR PASSION FOR FASHION START?

As a child I spent a lot of time in my father's studio watching him work. Thats why when I grew up my decision to become a designer was not a big surprise for my family.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR FATHER?

Nothing comes for free in this life. I started my career in the company from scratch. At first I was running my father's errands and learned the basics of a new profession.

WAS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO LEARN?

When my father works he is totally involved in the creative process. So I studied a lot by myself: I watched him working and memorized everything carefully.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE BRAND STYLE?

Alberto Guardiani was originally created as a shoe brand for men. That is why the womens line, which appeared later, borrowed much from the mens collection. Now this experiment of mixing opposite elements - male and female, casual and evening, classic and sports - is the basis of each collection.

HOW DID THE IMAGE OF THE WOMENS LINE CHANGE WITH YOUR ARRIVAL?

Mine and my fathers views on womens shoes differ in many aspects. At the same time it was very important for me to create a new image of the line, keeping the iconic style of Alberto Guardiani. My brand development strategy is an evolution, not revolution.

HOW DO YOU START WORKING ON THE COLLECTION?

Above all, I am starting with a shape. Then I think what do I need to add or change to make them look like shoes made by Alberto Guardiani? So I experiment with proportions, colors and finishes. Its incredibly exciting!

WHICH OF THE MODELS ARE YOU PARTICULARLY PROUD OF?

This season we have released a capsule collection of Cherie slip-ons. We used crystals as a decorative element, so we got a sports model with a festive mood.

HOW DO YOU SEE SHOE FASHION IN 10 YEARS?

Technologies will open up new opportunities in design and shoes will become more lightweight, practical and comfortable. That's when we'll live!

He Has Set It All on Feet

The designer Alberto Guardiani does not have to choose between family and work. His daughters and wife help him develop his brand name shoes, they often hold business-related discussions while having dinner together in their cosy and full of souvenirs house in Porto San Giorgio by the Adriatic Sea.

Wanda, the sister of Mr Guardiani takes me in a Fiat Panda to the yellow detached house buried in verdure in a quiet street. Rossella, Mr Guardiani's wife, Serena, Rubina and Guya, his daughters are already sitting on veranda at a table set for breakfast, having coffee, talking and fanning themselves. Gino, Mr Guardiani's Labrador is lying on the cool tiles .

Hello, Wanda! Daddy, come on!" the ladies say.

A corpulent man with a charming smile and curly grey hair, wearing glasses and keeping a newspaper under his arm, comes out of the house and says:"I am Alberto. You are welcome. He takes a garden hose and absentmindedly starts watering the hydrangeas,

involving the photographer and myself in a conversation. Mr Guardiani and Rosella speak Italian, Serena, Rubina, Guya and Wanda translate for us, they all take up each other's ideas, argue, laugh and rub Gino behind the ears.

I have the impression that they are never apart. It seems to me that this is one coherent body with Alberto Guardiani in the centre, who is a good father and designer who has developed a small shoe workshop into a popularfashion brand named after him. Two women's collections, two men's collections and one kid's collection are sold in hundreds of stores worldwide. "No, it has never been as hot here as nowadays, we have not even installed an air conditioner when we built the house the host says.

'Here' means in Porto San Giorgio, a resort located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea with striped umbrellas on the beach, granite rock breakwaters, sand splits and milk-warm water in the sea.

A little horse on the shelf in the living room is from Sicily, the white one next to it is from Tunisia and the other two are from China. "I do not ride a horse myself but I admire these animals: they are so strong, free and graceful" Alberto says.

In the kitchen there are a lot of ceramics brought from Greece, Croatia and Sicily, including the images of the Sun considered by the family as a symbol of the home.

The Guardianis have a housekeeper but they often cook themselves. "I also can cook but only one dish, pasta Carbonara," Alberto smiles.

In the smaller living room in the corner on the table under the lamp there are plenty of family photographs in large frames. The tortoise shell was bought in a flea market in northern Italy, Alberto likes these animals. "When my father goes fishing and by chance finds a turtle, he picks it up, examines it and sets it free" Serena laughs.

The sky-blue fish that we see in the hall under the large mirror were bought in Paris.

The table standing in the dining room now used to stand in the studio of Alberto's parents: "We did not pay attention to it, it was covered with canvas and we just used it as a convenient surface to polish the shoes. Once we took the canvas off, we were stunned by what we saw: it is a true antique!. In Alberto's "den" in the basement on the chest from Bali there are many souvenirs: Russian nesting dolls, statuettes from India and Mexico and the New York Twin Towers miniature.

The guest bedroom on the second floor is decorated in Art Deco style which is the

hosts' favourite. They believe that the tints of blue make you feel like you are by the seaside, which blend perfectly in with the views of Porto San Giorgio.

The hyperrealist sculptor Carole Feuerman showed her new "Survival of Serena" at the Venice Biennale in 2007, and Alberto immediately ordered its smaller version for the hall because his daughter's name is Serena.

Behind the host who is sitting in his cabinet we can see a memorable thing, a stand with adhesive streaks which his parents used in the workshop to glue shoe soles.

On the wall to the right there is a canvas with family photos which Serena made as a birthday present for her father.

The Guardianis like to party, and when the guests go out into the garden, sometimes, the police are involved because the neighbours have complained about the loud music again. "We love music,  Alberto makes a helpless gesture. Especially opera! Pavarotti!"

Alberto is from Montegranaro, a small town situated 15 km deeper on the coast, also in the region of Marche: "By the way, in Marche they have always produced men's shoes, while in Rimini, womens shoes."

He has literally grown up in a workshop: his father Dino used to make men's shoes for Byblos and Gianfranco Ferré in the workshop situated on the ground floor.

In 1947, he set up his own company called Centauro.

Alberto inherited the family business 25 years later, renamed it to Nuova Centauro developed his brand name

He married Rosella in 1978, they lived in Montegranaro for three years,

then moved to a flat in Porto San Giorgio, closer to Rosella's parents and to the sea because Alberto is a passionate fisherman (even on the desk there is a picture of a tuna weighing 234 kilograms that he caught here). Two years later they started to build a family nest, their friend and architect Carlo Valentini had to design a "traditional" house that would not look absolutely new, still sunny.

And anywhere you can see dozens of photographs:

The hosts and their children attending shows, festivals, parties, on holidays on board their yacht in Greece, Croatia and Capri.

Or almost never, in the basement, next to the garage, Alberto has his own "den" with sauna, TV and table football. "Sometimes I need to be alone,"  he says.

"But you cannot stay alone for a long time" Rossella says going up the seashell stairs to the first floor where there is their bedroom with a splendid wardrobe: Indonesian carved doors on the mirror wall seem to be hanging in the air.

Their daughters' rooms are also on the first floor (they do not live with their parents but often come to visit them), and a closet with shoes on the shelves.

One day, Alberto was coming back from a business trip to Russia.

He called me from the airport to say: "Darling, I am coming home!" I replied to him sobbing into the phone: "No, go to the construction site, there is a broken water pipe there!"

He rushed there terrified, and there... was a housewarming party waiting for him! While he was absent, we finished the construction works, and in three days moved all our stuff to the new house to make him a surprise! Rossella smiles triumphantly.

A team approach is very efficient in business, too: "Dad does not speak much in the workshop but mum is very sociable, she talks to everyone and notices everything,"  Serena laughs, she is a Creative Director of the women's collection.

Guya is responsible for advertising and visual content, while Rubina is in charge of the

digital marketing.

How do they manage to maintain healthy relationships?

Alberto shrugs his shoulders: "All my life I have seen that family and work make an organic whole. My friends and relatives help me, I like to live in a small town like this because everything is very close.

Here now there are a lot of tourists in Porto San Giorgio but during the low season

there is no one on the beach, so, I can walk for hours with Gino by the sea and then return home.

Plans for reconstruction?

 

No! Here everything is exactly as I wanted, we just add some features from time to time".

Milan, June 2016 – Imagination of power: Alberto Guardiani Men's Spring-Summer 2017 Collection is inspired by surrealism, from which it draws a light-hearted, and a marked inclination towards beauty.

Thus, a collection of a dual personality takes shape, in which the traditional craftsmanship - that has always distinguished Alberto Guardiani creations - meets innovative solutions, surprising details, daring colours and hybrid functionality. This is not a collection: it is an articulated wardrobe of footwear, designed for a demanding gentleman, who demands high quality, functionality and style from his accessories. These are not sneakers: they are crosscutting footwear that combine a sportive sole with a refined upper, to create a genuine passe-par- tout. This is not print: the decorations are composed of droplets and splashes of colour that recall the dripping of artists. Among the new proposals for the season is the Outsider that from the name alone announces its strong character. This spirited Derby, with a rubber sole, is made of yellow or royal blue brushed calfskin and features an iconic camouflage fringe that makes it recognisable at first glance. More traditional -but only at first glance- is the Sweet Love, another newcomer of Spring-Summer 2017. Its slender silhouette recalls timeless classic footwear, just like the materials chosen, from nappa effect to nubuck calfskin. The sole gives character to this accessory - an unexpected smooth rubber sole, in nuance with the upper - the vibrant colours and ironic welt in natural rope, which adds a carefree note as a whole. In other words, why choose between formal and informal, when it is perfectly possible to have both? Another new entry is represented by the Royalto: a lightweight and dynamic structure, which combines a casual spirit starting from the sole - revealed by the choice of white/beige two-tone rubber - to a natural leather midsole, which recalls the formal universe. A minimalist upper draws everything together, available in a Moccasin or Derby version that lights up with unexpected shades of emerald green or a deep cognac colour. Among the must-haves of the Alberto Guardiani Maison, which are renewed for the Spring-Summer 2017, is the Algreen, identified by the rubber sole with a camouflage tread. This versatile shoe, this season, evolves into a two-tone slip- on: a sports shoe with a décor inclination - as emphasised by the hand stitching, pleasantly contrasting, which recalls a baseball. Even the Clayton, another evergreen of the Maison, is more easy-going and fun loving in this collection. The natural white rubber tread sole -highlighted by the grey midsole and the rope welt detail- is grafted onto delightful two-tone Derbies, which seem designed to appeal to the contemporary dandy.Alternatively, there is the moccasin version available in two variants: decorated with splashes of colour, it will be the chosen footwear for those seeking a casual but elegant style, with an intellectual touch. Made using monochrome nubuck and enriched by an iconic camouflage welt, it becomes a bold accessory, of a decisive fashionista point of view. Even the Osaka reinvents itself in a casual flair thanks to a new model available in crocodile print nubuck and suede, combined with the typical white rubber sole. The shark tooth sole, which characterises the Shark’s Boot, welcomes this season with college-inspired unlined loafers, made of soft-brushed calfskin. A fresh and carefree mood also brighten the universe of athletic shoes. For example, Circus, the lightweight sneaker with its distinctive milled rubber sole - along with a leather midsole - and its slender silhouette. For Spring-Summer 2017, this smart-casual model is proposed in the classic monochrome drummed calfskin… That, however, is combined with a witty tongue in striped fabric, capable of giving a completely new character to the collection.

Alternatively, there is also a multi-coloured version, created by combining different materials: this is how to update an essential accessory turning it into a personal statement of style. A more subtle evolution of the Berk: this gym shoe of classic proportions is renewed through surprising details, such as perforated materials, neon yellow lace tips, and camouflage details. Because sometimes it just takes one thing to redefine the collection completely. An all-new formula is the incarnation of the slip-on, made of smooth calfskin and with visible elastic laces and camouflage detail on the back, which represents an absolute first for this season. Finally, a new proposal that combines the genderless trend, making it a unisex model: Stripes, a model with a boxed rubber sole and upper embellished with decorative stitching made entirely by hand. An active spirit shoe, but with a decisively dressy inclination, originally made for him, but that can also be worn by her...

An anthem based on freedom and imagination, fully in line with the spirit of the Spring-Summer 2017 by Alberto Guardiani.

"FAMILY-RUN ITALIAN SHOEMAKER ALBERTO GUARDIANI'S THIRD WAVE"

In the small town of Montegranaro in Italy’s Marche region, a tiny, family-run atelier has been honing its craft for the last 69 years. The craft in question? Artisanal leather shoes. And the brand, Alberto Guardiani, has become synonymous with its refined craftsmanship and innovation ever since it began in 1947. In fact, it’s thanks to these values that the brand enjoys a long-standing Handmade collaboration with Wallpaper* – the last of which resulted in a Robert Storey-designed window display in its Milan flagship.

This year, however, marks a significant turning point in the history of the shoemaker: Serena Guardiani – daughter of Alberto and granddaughter of founder Dino – is stepping into the role of creative director, of the brand's women's collections. The 26-year-old graduate of Milan’s Istituto Marangoni joins her elder sisters Rubina and Guya within the company, making the transition to the third Guardiani generation complete. ‘I’m excited to bring a woman’s point of view and a touch of femininity to the functionality we’re known for,’ Serena says of the direction she intends to steer the brand in.

Her father will continue to oversee the men’s side of the business, and will remain her visual sparring partner. ‘My father is definitely “King of the style office”,’ Serena laughs, before adding: ‘He is the kind of man who very much believes you have to earn your space before you can take it. Because of this, I spent a long time developing my experience outside of the business.’

This experience has culminated in the brand’s second collection under Serena’s creative guidance, something that’s both a throwback to the glamour of the 1970s and 1980s, and a nod to the future. For A/W 2016, dainty brogues grounded with tough tread and a pair of snakeskin-embossed gold leather booties are standouts. The meeting of glossy leather and chunky lug soles is the kind of classic-versus-modern contradiction that embodies Guardiani to a T. ‘I have a big respect for our history and brand DNA,’ says Serena. ‘From a design perspective, this will always be my starting point.’

Women's Fall Winter 2016-17 / Presentation Milan Fashion Week

Designed for a gentleman with a multi-faceted personality and bold style, the Fall/Winter 2016 Collection comes up with a cross-cutting, hybrid universe of innovative footwear maintaining all the appeal of the great classics. This eclectic spirit is perfectly incarnated in the Antony, this season's most important new shoe. Its sober, impeccable lines recalling the world of formalwear cross paths with exquisitely contemporary features such as a black rubber lug sole covered with a strip of slate-grey leather. A number of variations are available: from the ankle boot to the timeless derby and the slip-on, it is today's version of one of Alberto Guardiani's historic styles. Quality materials and unusual techniques interpret a number of different occasions for use and different temperaments: from the composed sobriety of lace-ups in black tumbled calfskin to plucky booties made of craquelé patent leather and an eccentric crocodile-look calfskin decorated with a camouflage print. A plucky look characterizes the structure of the Power shoe, made instantly recognizable by the red midsole on its heel and the logo on the metal eyelet. Milan, September 2015 – There is innovation in the air at Alberto Guardiani, and the SPRING-SUMMER 2016 Women's Collection is the evidence. The feminine universe of the brand evolves under the creative guidance of Serena Guardiani.

The protagonist is a contemporary woman, determined but feminine, who demands functionality but is not prepared to sacrifice style. Her strong personality is reflected in a multi-faceted yet always consistent collection, which processes the DNA of the brand to invent a unique style. Male inspiration and functional aptitude have always been fundamental values for the brand, permeating the entire collection and defining its strong and modern character.

The active spirit is revealed through the wide assortment of sneakers, expressed in three structures to meet all the needs of a dynamic, though sophisticated, woman.

They range from the very light Laki, characterised by a split sole, to the daring Ginger, resting on a high lightweight rubber wedge underlined by a contrasting micro-wedge.

Finally, Wendy features an intermediate sole, also available in the Up, version, with an invisible raised up heel inside.

The unquestionable feminine character of these shoes is dictated by a sober and delicate palette, which includes white, black and nude, in addition to the diaphanous metallic tones and an evanescent flower print.

Essential only at first glance, the sneakers for the Spring-Summer 2016 reveal an unexpected wealth of details: scalloped profiles, shaped soles enriched by graphic patterns that give a unique personality to each model. Refined materials and

sophisticated workmanship, like suede decorated with micro-studs, perforated patent leather and genuine leather carved to obtain innovative material effects, transform training shoes into an accessory with a strong personality, perfect from morning to night, to cope with even the dressiest occasions.

The same versatility of use characterises the boyish universe, where the clearly male-inspired models are renewed by playing with unexpected details, soft colours and refined combinations of materials. Derbies, brogues, loafers and slip-ons always rest on significant, structured soles: "Functionality above all" seems to be the motto of the collection.

The iconic New England, characterised by the treaded rubber sole, is enriched with new models, unexpected cut-outs and refined combinations of materials and ton-sur-

ton colours through drummed calf leather with irisé finishes, glitter paint, laminated and brushed metals.

Great attention is paid to the "feminine" details, using glittered contours, special applications of finely carved studs and expertly perforated decorative motifs.

The mood of the more aggressive Sharkboot, which emerges from the important “shark tooth" sole, is lightened up to give birth to a new style: the moccasin.

The choice of materials is eccentric with personality, from the retro reflector to laminated and perforated leather for a "metal mesh" effect. The sandals, inevitable protagonists of Spring/Summer, interpret the double soul of the collection by combining hyper-functional fittings and forms with very precious decorations. Thong sandals, dual band models and cage-like structures are expressed in two different heights: Kira, a very low wedge, and Karen, a raised flatform also available in a multicolour version.

The materials draw upon the boyish universe: metal laminates and brushed calf leather, perforated models and patent leather with soft tones, sometimes enriched with jewel applications and contrasting micro-inserts. The recurring motif lies in the contrasting contours, which define the profiles of the shoe and create a unique graphic appeal.

The functional revolution in the world of heels is called Lilli: a style that reveals an agile and comfortable character. A frame in metallic ABS highlights its particular trapezoidal shape, which gives momentum to two variants with a 50 and 90 mm heel: a decorative and structural element. Models of essential design are developed on this solid and comfortable base, ranging from ankle boots with lateral cut-outs to the décolleté with strap, through to timeless sandals.

The main collection sits alongside the Chérie Capsule Collection: a very light weight slip-on in scuba fabric with rubber sole decorated with heat-sealed crystals, accompanied by a matching backpack. A practical and amusing combination, which comes in 12 bright shades. From royal blue, to cyclamen, to sage green and lime yellow plus two "special" versions in denim and printed satin.

I studied fashion business and product management

3. What do you like best about working for Guardiani?

I am proud to keep on working on my father’s steps, to continue his work started more than 40 years ago. This a big challenge and I love challenges.

4. How is Italy infused in the brand’s DNA?

The craftsmanship heritage of my grandfather Dino mixed with the edgy experimentation of my father is the perfect combination of what is Italian creativity nowadays.

5. What is your main source of inspiration?

My father and all the Guardiani’s women. Of course travelling is important because opens your mind, stimulate your dreams but when I keep with my feet back on the ground my family is my first source of inspiration, it represents the reality to me. I strongly believe that a prefect product is a combination of creativity and pragmatism, dream and realty.

6. If you had to choose one shoe to wear every day, which one would it be?

The Guardiani DNA as well as mine is boyish-man oriented. For instance Shark’s boot and New England represent the same balance of style. As woman if I had to choose a high heel shoe the only one would be the Lipstick Heel, because it represents an extremely feminine woman but at the same time ironic and with a strong personality.

7. What do you think makes a fashion product truly unique?

Details always make the difference, it is what always gives balance to a product. Shark’s boot and New England represent two extremely boyish models translated in the feminine world thanks to materials, accessories and colors.

8. If you had to take a plane tonight, where would it take you?

I would go to any Greek island. Sea is my home!

The mixing of the typical sporty-vintage taste of the 70s and the shapes and sizes of 90s are the key elements of the new Alberto Guardiani men's collection for spring/summer 2016.

The wardrobe of the Guardiani man for the new season is inspired by a sartorial style with technical and sporty details: craftsmanship and sportswear meet each other for a new refined and innovative style.

Classically inspired shapes of the 70s are perfectly blended with compact 90s volumes and create new dynamic silhouette.

Carved and hand-woven leathers, calfskin leathers artfully printed and sewn come together with the energetic volumes of the soles giving life to a collection that represents the perfect mix of design dedicated to a man always on the move.

Faded suede or aged-vintage effect leather, brushed calfskins with cream, interwoven or diamond perforated calfskin leathers are in alternate colors of intense black, graphite gray, dark blue, denim blue, dark brown, garnet red and total white.

The ALGREEN model this season is presented as lace-up in abrasivato calfskin leather in total black with special hand-weaving processes of the upper sole combined with a 40 mm high base with rubber sole in a multicolor camo effect. The craftsmanship hand weaving processes also enhance the CLAYTON lace-up. A captivating shaped shoe that shows the calfskin leather of the upper sole worked together in crosses and overlaps, combined with a solid rubber sole.

The it-shoe SHARK BOOT comes in soft calfskin leather mixed in different processes:the smooth leather of the heel part is coupled with the unique diamond perforation or hand-woven leathers of the upper, giving a vintage look to the typically energetic and engaging shape of the shoe. The shape of the desert boot leaves the ankle uncovered and is enhanced by string laces inserted in trekking style metal hooks. The distinctive element remains the gritty super light rubber "shark tooth" sole. The sporty-tailoring new BERK sneaker is the result of a careful research and attention to the typical tailored craftmanship of Alberto Guardiani.

It is presented in several versions: in total white abrasivato calfskin leather characterized by the particular geometric cubic 3D pattern, in a soft diamond perforated calfskin with a vintage look, in fabric with ethnic prints or in simple calfskin leather in different colors such as white, blue or garnet red, with a rubber sole matching tones with the upper. A shoe where the compact and energetic volume of the sole is sewn artfully to a clean shoe upper with a ultra contemporary design

The TRUMAN sneaker is also characterized by the total white color of the upper developed in a mix of soft calfskin and ostrich printed leather. The strong and robust structure comes with string laces together with a large velcro buckle in transparent smoked pvc. The sole is carved with a particular graphic linked to the crossfit activity and shows an American Swing pattern, one of the basic moves with kettlebell of the discipline.

Another new product of the season is the WAVY runner sneaker: a shoe with a captivating design created for those who love to be polished even in the most casual moments. Hi-tech fabrics or with ethno-chic patterns are combined with suede, rubberized calfskin and transparent smoked pvc. Trait d’union of this mini collection is the gaiter that overlaps the shoe upper or designs the drilling of the demi-open model.

The FREEMAN sneaker has a most classic and formal taste characterized by an English-style perforations and by a front fringe mixed with the string lacing. This typical elements of a classic derby shoe have moved to a super light sneaker with a casual look and with a super light rubber “shark tooth” sole.

A collection with a classic taste but geometric at the same time, interpreted through the innovative overlapping of materials and schematic patterns that blend through a simple and refined naturalness.

Rock’n’Rococò

The world of rock meets the harmonious and luxuriant style of Rococo for a total synergy among apparently faraway views, but which merge together in a contemporary design, in a perfect duo between rebel energy and sophisticated opulence.

A collection, which has been conceived for an ironic, determined and refined woman, made up of purely rock'n'roll elements, which merge with the sumptuous features of Rococo, creating a mix of unique materials, finishes, shapes and accessories.

The encounter between two formally opposite worlds materializes in the black rubber-coated calfskins, enriched with antiqued gold gemstones in the brushed lamés matching with the damask velvets in gold and charcoal silver, or in the tumbled calfskins, decorated with jewel charm tassels.

Solid, yet elegant at the same time, processes are appraised by elastic bands with black and gold lurex effect, by a combination of studs, gemstones and rhinestones, presented in a mix of black, gold and charcoal colours. An example is the Shark’s boot style, which has undergone a restyling with the jewel strap version, contrasting the strong effect of the rubber-coated black calfskin, of the neoprene gaiter as well as of the same shape of the shoe with the "shark-tooth" sole.

The ongoing style remains, presented in an alternative version, with elastic laces and drawstring, in lamé crocodile print matching with a bright suede cracked effect in charcoal colour.

The New England family gets larger with two new styles. The laced combat boots in tumbled or brushed-off calfskin is enriched with studs and stones on the tip and heel. The slip-on style, featuring a refined and, at the same time, a rock look, is characterized by a maxi tongue and is presented in different special versions: lamé crocodile and brilliant suede with cracked effect, black brushed calfskin with lurex elastic band, both with maxi charm tassels with Rococo features.

The union between two structures, already featured in the AW 2015-16 men's collection, gives birth to Arya: lace-up and Beatles with a slightly rounded and pointed shape, a sole featuring a formal leather welt and central ribs under the sole, which confer a light feature to the structure. The styles are presented in two special hair-on calfskin versions: one in pied-de-poule enriched with studs and stones, the other one spotted in purple and ash shades, combined with a gleaming lamé purple calfskin.

For Fall/Winter 2015/16, heels by Alberto Guardiani renew themselves with two structures featuring a Seventies style: Lilli and Claudine.

Lilli, with 90 mm heel height, trapeze-shaped covered with leather and featuring a gold frame, is conceived in three styles: ankle boots, court shoes and lace shoes with satin laces; the hides range from black calfskin or black&white to coloured suede in purple shades.

Claudine, with 30 mm heel height and square toe, is a structure, which combines the past and the future by typically Seventies outlines, together with an advanced style, an example of this is the style “gabbia” in gold lamé calfskin with applied chain.

Starting from this season, the collection also includes a new project: the Iconic Brace Bag, a unique cross body style, sophisticated and with an urban look.

Characterized by its gold metal or charcoal logo, it can be carried by hand or on shoulder, owing to its removable chain.

 

The Iconic Brace Bag is developed in the various materials featured in the collection: rubber-coated calfskin, neoprene, lamé crocodile up to spotted hair-on-calfskin in purple and ash shades.

Alberto Guardiani re-opens its doors in Moscow at Crocus City shopping Mall, with a new concept by an eclectic and Post-modern look, joining its basic functional aspect with geometric simplicity.

The architectural project wants to recall the atmosphere that marked the brand’s creation in the 1940s.  Masters of Art Deco architecture reinterpreted in a contemporary way inspire furniture and spaces.

The new store is restyled with a central entrance and two display windows. The project, which involves a surface area of 110 square meters, evokes the foyer of an apartment in New York, Paris, Singapore or London— welcoming and cosmopolitan, intimate and elegant.  The space is defined by: central two-story bookshelves open on both sides decorated with old white books; a large table lacquered in Guardiani blue under a big Coltrane chandelier by Delightfull with 3 iron tubes, that make it magical and a smooth lighting effect; the use of carpets, ottomans, and armchairs.

The opening was attended by many personalities from the artistic scene like Maria Kozhevnikova, Yelena Starostina, Daniil Fyodorov, Yury Grymov, Emin Agalarov, Alexey Chumakov, Yulia Savelieva, Vladimir Kristovsky, young designer like Alisa Tolkacheva, Dasha Gauzer, Anastasia Grebyonkina, Pyotr Aksyonov.

Among the guest were also press, blogger and influencer like Daria Kunilovskaya, Katya Katkova and Oksana On, Marina Demchenko, Maria Yasakova.

Between them, also partner Emin Agalarov and friend Konstantin Andrikopulos with his wife Olga Tsypkina.

A mussed-up elegance inspired by the Beatles and 1960s England: a high energy combination of simple British style with the typical research of Made In Italy. This is the concept behind the new Alberto Guardiani fall/winter 2015-16 collection: a bold style that draws on the past, but with contemporary colours, shapes and materials. The typical British allure of the age of the Fab Four is expressed in a collection featuring simple design given a new twist by innovative cuts, materials and workmanship. The SHARK’S BOOT is a desert boot available in four new versions: in abrasivato calfskin leather with hound's tooth fabric uppers or honeycomb print abrasivato calfskin buckles, both with neoprene gaiters. Two very special versions in black calfskin with a stringray print and a saffiano camouflage print. The unusual neoprene gaiters are not smooth but have tiny dots in relief to create a bubble-wrap effect. All styles lace-up with elastic laces and a drawstring, with an ultra-light “shark's tooth” rubber sole. Booties and desert boots for the new JOHN style, all versions have an island-mounted sole to lighten up a shoe with a handcrafted feel, created using materials such as abrasivato calfskin with or without a honeycomb print and suede, with details such as English-style perforations and leather welts; all ideally mixed with less formal elements, such as laces with metal through-pieces and buckles with velcro fastening.

ALGREEN is another new line including ankle boots, loafers, lace-ups and slip-ons with tassels, combining materials such as soft tumbled calfskin with materials such as neoprene in the gaiters, camouflage print saffiano leather and stingray print calfskin. Lace-up and velcro fastenings are combined with an unusual base rising 40 mm above a green and brown leather camouflage sole.

GULULU is a new desert boot intrekking style, lined with wool and made of soft calfskin in a variety of different colours, including brick red, dove grey, black and forest brown.

Lastly, CLAYTON is an attractive style offered in a number of different versions ranging from brushed calfskin uppers combined with black and white hound's tooth ponyskin or suede with studs and eyelets or with brushed calfskin printed with a honeycomb pattern. Suede or calfskin buckles and laces with metal hooks or a special neoprene covering fasten up all versions with rubber lug soles.

 

FALL/WINTER 2015-16

Guardiani Sport: Modern Regeneration

For fall/winter 2015-16 Guardiani Sport regenerates and reinforces its smart soul with traditional handcrafting and materials which are practical but have a sporty vintage feel.

Soft hides, studs, texturised graphics and a skilful blend of craftsmanship give styles a rich, modern personality without neglecting the tradition that has always been the strong point of all styles. What's really new this season is the  TRUMAN sneaker, with its bold, strong structure, available in a lace-up version, with big velcro buckles or unusual golden piercing joining through-pieces. Featuring a variety of different materials such as crocodile print calfskin, hammered calfskin or plain smooth calfskin. But what is truly special about this shoe is its sole, notched with unusual graphics linked with the crossfit workout and demonstrating one of the key moves in the discipline of kettlebell: the American Swing.

The classic  WEN sneaker stays lightweight thanks to materials such as nylon in combination with a crocodile print calfskin in a variety of different colours including red, slate grey and blue, but also incorporates new materials such as rubber-coated oxidised calfskin combined with pleated velvet or nabuk with satin. All versions feature a lightweight rubber sole with a brightly coloured tread.

TUDOR styles include variations ranging from sneakers to slip-ons.

All with rubber soles and clean lines, they are made of soft hammered calfskin with suede trim on the tip in a version with two cross zippers at the sides and in slip-ons with suede trim. Sneakers combine red, black, grey and forest green brushed calfskin with a buckle fastening and pyramid-shaped studs giving all styles an aggressive look. The high-top version in suede with a zipper at the front has iridescent calfskin trim featuring pyramid-shaped trompe-l’oeil decorations, also featured in the low sneaker with cotton laces. The collection shows off Guardiani Sport's heritage of hand craftsmanship, adding a new dynamism with a modern flair which continues to offer the everyday praticality the Guardiani man demands.

Last evening in the wake of Day 2 of Milan Fashion Week, we launched our new Flagship store with an exclusive cocktail party.  Guests, friends and celebs mingled from space to space to soft yet animated live Gypsy Jazz music by the acoustic band Four On Six.  Moët & Chandon champagne freely flowed until almost 11pm, giving off an atmosphere of stylish fun surrounded by carefree laughter under sparkling lights.

The 240 sq. meter flagship store concept evokes the foyer of an apartment in New York, Paris, Singapore or London— welcoming and cosmopolitan, intimate and elegant.  The space is defined by open-sided central two-story shelves in nautical wood, an eclectic brass chandelier with trumpet-shaped arms and a round table lacqued in Guardiani blue.

In this space, classical elements are inspired by an atmosphere of comtemporary flair.  Yet, there is a touch of innovation with iPad docks which allow guest to navigate our website or interact with our digital platforms.
The evening was also an opportunity for guests to create and personalize their own Shark's Boot or Lipstick Heel with leathers and colors.

It’s quite simple, really. We are launching a part of the men’s collection to be sold in Antonioli as of the FW 13/14 season; a part which wavers from the sensational splash of contemporary colour and modern lines Alberto Guardiani is traditionally known for, and dives into the tenebre where names like Rick Owens, Givenchy and Peter Pilotto a part of the everyday style vocabulary.

The cocktail event, headed by dj Nicolò Vannucci kicked off with a stellar installation in the main room, where industrial racks, vintage records and neon tube lights framed the rock-esque collection of studded lace-ups, baroque Oxfords and buckle-down ankle boots. Blogger Pelayo Diaz of katelovesme.net circled the cult store, chatting it up with guests, shooting his choices of the top street style looks in the gig and getting a few shots of himself as well next to his favourite shoes . Heading towards the back, the collection was checkered with motorcycle helmets, while the Total Black versions of the Lipstick Heel and theFlutterby shoewere statuesque in glass. Overall, special guests and Antonioli aficionados took to the collection well, excited for its release in the shop and for the direction Alberto Guardiani is taking towards a darker shade of style.

Alberto Guardiani offered its open toe Navy-themed sandal in blue and white as a classic summer icon. This style, together with Alberto Guardiani’s colourful men’s boat shoes, have been sold at Convivio’s Mostra Mercato, which opened with a gala dinner. Numerous celebrities and important Italian names in culture, art and entrepreneurship participated in this initiative.
For this festive occasion, Alberto Guardiani gave styling duties for its gala table to fashion designer and illustrator Gioia Corazza. The theme of the evening, “neo kitch,” was creatively interpreted with an ironic and cosmopolitian type of woman by Corazza with a gallery of Lipstick Dolls. “Women who don’t take things too seriously, but love everything that is avant-garde are just the women who choose the it-shoe Lipstick Heel,” commented the designer.

An Alberto Guardiani party marked the opening of Milan’s series of fashion shows.

In line with an annual tradition, this shoe brand from the Marches welcomed guests in a stunning new location. This year it was the turn of the breathtaking Grand Hall at Milan’s Triennale Museum. Customers, friends, celebrities, journalists and writers gathered for an easy chic night, enjoying good music and a sparkling atmosphere to celebrate the success of this Italian brand.

The Triennale’s Grand Hall and the beautiful balcony overlooking the park were the setting for Alberto Guardiani World, the theme chosen for the 2010 event. It was a tribute to the international dimension that is becoming part and parcel of the brand as it makes ever more significant strides into foreign markets. Indeed, the opening of the first flagship Alberto Guardiani store in China is yet more proof of this international nature built on a solid Made-in-Italy tradition and culture.

Valeria Solarino, Malika Ayane, Giovanni Gastel, Natasha Stefanenko, Kris&Kris, Saturnino and many other famous guests were at the event, which has become a not-to-be-missed date for people in the sector and others.

Guests enjoyed the new house music selected by Kiko Navorro, resident deejay at the world-famous Pacha in Ibiza. The rhythmic beat and lively music was only interrupted to give space for a live performance by contact improvisation, a group of young people, performing tribal movements using traditional instruments, that represented the multiethnic, international urban tribe.

Upon leaving, guests were given Alberto Guardiani “Relax After Fun” night masks.

The new campaign involves two different subjects, describing the brand’s values declined in the Sports collection through unposed photographs: naturalness, dynamism, joie de vivre, in a lifestyle key.

Alberto Guardiani Sport for Women, shot in Manhattan's Tribeca, is made by Donna Ferrato, American photographer known and appreciated for having dealt with several social issues in her life like those regarding domestic violence which she also dedicated several books to.

Shooting was carried out in Duane Street, one of Tribeca’s historic spots, a trendy area today but the setting to many a crime in the past carried out by street gangs systematically subjugating the freedom of people living there. This is therefore also a homage paid to the new joie de vivre that can be felt in the area today, in a setting where the campaign’s three young protagonists - natural, sunny and independent women - are about to live a new and enthralling adventure.

Alberto Guardiani Sport for Men has the same sparkling and informal mood of the women’s campaign, yet this time represented by young “metropolitan” men portrayed in a convivial moment of their day. Protagonist of the 2010 Women’s Spring/Summer campaign is Lonneke Engel, Dutch top model discovered by Bruce Weber when she was only 15 and former testimonial of Ralph Lauren campaigns, this time photographed by Giovanni Gastel.

Chosen for her strong personality and evident sensuality, Lonneke represents the spirit of women according to Alberto Guardiani: enterprising, ironic, surely sexy and sensible to new style trends.

The inauguration of the mono-brand boutique "Alberto Guardiani" inside the luxurious GUM in Moscow coincided with the opening of the new shoes exhibition "Bella Scarpa", organised by the concern "Bosco di Ciliegi", the exceptional partner of the Italian brand.

The exhibition came into the world at the blooming cherry tree forest. Hanging between the trees, there were some huge transparent bags and purses, containing the excursus of the historical models of shoes "Alberto Guardiani", accompanied by the archival photographs together with the images of the most beautiful advertising campaigns, in homage to the history of this Italian trademark.

"Every single day for me is of great importance, but today it is a special one, absolutely. I’m happy. It was a magnificent idea to have the opening of a boutique "Alberto Guardiani" here, in GUM. I’m thoroughly satisfied with this beautiful location containing the fascination of the history of Moscow, and with the shop turned out very well. There is nothing excessive inside of the shop, the space is refined, elegant and comfortable, what represents, for my opinion, all the fascination of the world "Alberto Guardiani". So, I would like my clients to feel deeply the same emotions meanwhile they are choosing one of the models", - has underlined Mr. Alberto Guardiani.

At the event there were several guests from show business and the honoured art workers. Mr. Kusnirovich Mikhail and Mrs. Moiseeva Ekaterina were greeting personally the guest of honour of the event, Mr. Vittorio Claudio Surdo, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic in the Russian Federation.

A new space, a new maison for Alberto Guardiani's footwear.

On Thursday 23 October, the new boutique opened its door to the Milanese jet-setters. The inauguration had many famous guests, including Elena Santarelli, Manuel Casella, Kris Reichert, Antonio and Michele, straight from Zelig, Michel Altieri and Jessica Polsky, Filippo Vitte, Serena Garitta, Gabriela Grechi, Beppe Convertini, Marina Deor, Rosario Rannisi and Luca Sabbioni.

The flagship store at 6 Corso Venezia is the result of an exclusive concept that perfectly embodies the spirit of the brand while also conveying its philosophy. It is a cosmopolitan living room, a sophisticated and welcoming space where customers can discover Alberto Guardiani's style and enjoy a fulfilling shopping experience.

The boutique is spread across two floors, with a surface area of 150 m2. The carefully chosen furnishings and, especially the colours, are the central elements, titillating all five senses. The store's design involved working with a renowned colour consultant, leading to a colour palette that is pivotal to creating a wonderful combination of beauty and well-being.

The carpets are periwinkle, while the walls and details are eel blue. The colour palette aims to create a natural atmosphere, where warm and cold tones are carefully balanced to obtain relaxing and light-filled spaces, dotted with brightly coloured chairs.

Contemporary design was even at the basis of the illumination. Light fittings that are really sculptures light up the two floors, playing with the light and highlighting the best in the various products.

The opening of this store is part of the company's growth policy that has seen four new Guardiani stores opening worldwide in the last year. As such, this Milan store is central to the company's retail strategy, which will see stores opening in Kuwait City, Dubai and Damascus in the coming months.

This is yet another major step in the expansion of this company from the Marches, that, after opening a store in Piazza di Spagna in Rome, will continue with a new flagship store in Corso Venezia in Milan. There are now 13 single-brand Alberto Guardiani stores.

The store reiterates the unmistakable sign of Alberto Guardiani's unique style: a quintessential blend of tradition, quality and modernity. Each detail is carefully considered so as to convey the company's defining values and welcome the most demanding customers, both from Italy and abroad, in an embracing and refined location where one can enjoy an exclusive shopping experience.

The store is located in an elegant building and is absolutely in keeping with the city's unique atmosphere. The three windows are designed as an open stage, doing away with the barriers between the city outside and the interiors of the store. This effect is achieved by using liquid furniture, made of crystal so as to create a sensory continuum between what is inside the store and what is outside.

The lighting has also been carefully designed to highlight the typical brightness of Naples. The two artistic chandeliers create skilful interplays of light that emphasize the products and the display space.

It is a blend of extravagance and refined sophistication, using natural and innovative materials, searching for minimalist and refined solutions that evoke strong emotions.

The three areas of the store are harmoniously connected by two arches, lined with a marble mosaic with stylized motifs reminiscent of a shoe buckle. The mosaic is handmade, adopting the Byzantine techniques that require each piece of marble to be broken by hand.

The floor adds to the concept of welcoming and authenticity. It is made of Italian slate, embossed so as to provide a very shiny, soft effect that is enhanced with a special finish using natural wax.

The shelving, in line with the store in Rome, is simple and sharp. Wood panelling lined, at intervals, by dark blue eel - an unmistakable signature of Alberto Guardiani - and material-like wall paper bring a sense of unmistakable elegance.

Steel is the dominant feature for the whitehorse chairs and is also used for the till, made entirely of hand carded steel.

Alberto Guardiani's eastern expansion continues with the opening of his new store in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, also known as "the city of love" because its name comes from love and liebe.

This city is a typical modern capital, but it is also rich in history, especially in the old baroque town centre, the castle and the masterpieces by architect Joe Plecnik.
Tradition, quality and innovation are three souls that merge in Ljubljana and that characterise Alberto Guardiani's store, designed in keeping with fashion designers' style.
The new store is essential and refined, it combines both completely transparent windows with elements in eel and steel. This skilful contrast is balanced by carefully designed lighting, which highlights the collections and increases the visual impact.

After the recent launches in Rome and Naples, Alberto Guardiani is opening a new single brand store in Belgrade, the capital of the Republic of Serbia.
The company from the Marches chose Belgrade, the symbol of the rebirth of the Balkans, due to its sparkling intellectual and cultural life and for the economic boom that has made it one of the hubs of the new Europe.
Located downtown on Terazije, the store's hallmarks are simple, sharp and elegant lines that play on being essential and sophisticated. This style is perfectly in keeping with that of the single brand AG stores found in the world's major fashion cities.
The interior is dominated by an artistic chandelier, made of innovative materials such as carded steel - used for the till counter - and natural elements, such as eel for the shelves and black slate, skilfully combined to create a unique and refined setting.

Alberto Guardiani's growth in the retail sector goes on. Alberto Guardiani officially inaugurated its new flagship store in Piazza di Spagna in Rome.

"This is the first step on a tight agenda that will see, by February 2008, the opening of two further single-brand stores in Italy, another two important pieces in our retail development plan. So far, there are 11 single-brand shops across the world", explained Alberto Guardiani.

The upcoming inaugurations of new flagship stores in Italy are merely the cherries on top of a booming season for this designer from the Marches who has posted a 50increase on the same time last year.

The store in Piazza di Spagna is a tribute to refined understatement, the expression of modern elegance with an international touch.

This store combines typically Alberto Guardiani style with the wonderful original architecture. It is an extraordinary marriage of the ancient and the contemporary. Two windows overlook Piazza di Spagna, in the heart of Rome. 180 squared metres on two levels. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm and plays with soft contrasts, it embraces customers taking their senses on a journey filled with emotion and beauty.

The floor is a wonderful parquet with inlays of mink carpet. The shelves are white with highlights of blue leather and the tops are steel with unusual stripes. There are transparent crystal cabinets and walls "dressed" in dark blue eel as well as chairs made of steel and laser-processed pony skin.

The lighting reinforces the welcoming atmosphere. The two chandeliers - one could say sculpture-chandeliers - spray geometric beams and voluptuous spirals of light that modify the sense of space, embracing customers. The result is a lively, involving and elegant space that is divided by theme and collection: man, woman, sport.

The most innovative aspect is a special area for children where the use of colours and materials is strictly in harmony with the tastes and styles of young admirers of Alberto Guardiani

In the words of Alberto Guardiani, the head of this well known company from the Marche region, "I wanted a space of calm, rest, listening and exchange as well as one that represents a feeling, created by tradition, research, innovation and creativity, that is in harmony with one's emotional and cultural dimension".

The showroom is in an 18th-century building that was originally a monastery where pilgrims could stay and was later turned into a residence by the Calzoni-Sforza family. It is an ideal stage for Alberto Guardiani's style, a poetic landscape for exclusive goods and an expression of democratic luxury.

The showroom covers two floors.

The upper floor is the sales areas, welcoming national and international clients. This is a light, open space that is brought to life by a large window that divides the area in two, but both parts are in a constant dialogue, telling about the fundamentals of the brand. The 18th-century decorations, stuccoes and linear parquet designs are combined with elements of contemporary design, seeking out a conceptual synthesis that never becomes solely focused on matter.

The centrepiece is a chandelier sculpture, an art wok that is 2 metres high, 1 metre across, contains 80 kilos of bronze and 1,500 welded joints. It is a spherical spiral chandelier and the light radiates out from it, enlivening all of the items of the collection on display. It provides multiple sources of light that seemingly become numerous points of view and exalt the art of shoemaking.

Shelves around the walls, with interior lighting, create the ideal base for the shoes. This is a ‘stage' and a centre of attention that sometimes becomes the backdrop for the leading models.

The tables have sharp lines. They are made of resin and adorned with abstract prints. Each one is different from the others, unique despite being part of a series. A number of parts were created using natural or brushed iron, creating a focus of intense expressiveness.

On the ground floor, you reach the showroom for public relations and the press office by crossing a courtyard. Here, the aim was to recreate the amiable atmosphere of the house. The sense of hospitality is tangible. The design is welcoming and refined, the feel calm and relaxing. The entrance is decorated by the ‘living' bookcases: a series of asymmetrical modules that can be assembled and disassembled following the artistic inspiration and concepts of the collections.

The various rooms are divided by silicon doors and curtains made using strips of iron. This is an unusual interpretation of their function and a denial of the concept of closure in order to transmit a modern intimacy.

An astonishing space that reflects the Alberto Guardiani style.
